Landfill Gatehouse Operator (100243)

Hume City Council is looking for a Part Time Landfill Gatehouse Operator for our resource recovery facilities at Bolinda Road Resource Recovery Centre, Campbellfield, and Riddell Road Landfill, Sunbury. We are seeking a passionate Gatehouse Operator who will deliver professional, friendly and helpful customer service for customers.

The sites are open between 8:00am to 4:00pm seven days per week for the acceptance of waste loads. The successful applicant will be required to be flexible, and have a current drivers licence and access to their own vehicle, as they will be working between Bolinda Road Resource Recovery Centre and Riddell Road Landfill.

Key Requirements

  • Customer service skills, providing professional, friendly and effective Customer Service in a timely manner. Dealing with customers face to face and over the telephone to advise of the different fees and charges for the associated waste loads presented at the resource recovery facilities.
  • Administration experience with the ability to complete cash, cheque, EFTPOS and account transactions including the completion of reconciliation reports, banking slips, cash bags and daily reports. Also, the ability to work at a competent level with computer systems, including specialist gatehouse software and standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook).
  • Gatehouse weighbridge experience in identifying and classifying waste loads that are presented at the gatehouse including charging the appropriate disposal fees for each waste load is highly desirable.
