Hume City Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, confident and reliable person. This newly-created role is focused on ensuring that all dogs and cats within the municipality are registered.

Duties will include auditing databases, door-knocking and otherwise contacting residents with unregistered animals. In addition to the core role of increasing animal registration levels, there will also be other animal management and local laws duties performed as required. Initially for a temporary period until June 2020 with the possibility of a permanent role, this position requires rostered Saturday and On Call work.

Key Skills

  • Knowledge of the Domestic Animals Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Local Government Act.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including the ability to gain co-operation from internal and external customers from broad and diverse backgrounds, age groups and cultures and prepare routine letters, reports and memorandums.
  • High level computer skills, including use of the Microsoft Office suite and databases.
